Night Guard Care Instructions
The nightguard is a plastic appliance worn to alleviate symptoms of clenching or grinding the
teeth. Your dentist will recommend you wear this appliance in order to reduce jaw pain and
further damage to your teeth
Instructions for wear
Wear the nightguard every night while sleeping (or during the day for daytime clenchers) If the
appliance is not worn regularly it will stop fitting properly. If, through the continued use of your nightguard, you experience discomfort related to pressure or movement of your teeth, or if the bite surface is extremely rough and worn see your dentist for adjustments before re inserting. If you find the appliance falling out in your sleep, see your dentist.
Any new dental work done may change the shape of your teeth slightly. Please bring your
nightguard to each appointment so adjustments can be made. It is also a good idea to bring
your nightguard to your checkup appointments to ensure it is still serving its purpose and
fitting well, it may also need to be polished or adjusted.
Instructions for care
We recommend you clean your nightguard before placing it in your mouth and after ease use. A soft toothbrush with nonabrasive toothpaste can be used. Always keep the nightguard in a cool place when not in use.
Always keep the ightguard in a case at all times that it’s not being used. The Brux guard is a very interesting piece of plastic to children and pets alike, so please KEEP OUT OF THEIR REACH.
Please note that your jaw can feel stiff and your ability to open fully may be limited right after taking the nightguard out in the morning. THIS IS A NORMAL RESPONSE and things should subside within a short period of time. If you find that the wear of the nightguard is too debilitating for you to wear, PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE TO HAVE YOUR NIGHTGUARD CHECKED. Sometimes the height of the nightguard needs to be adjusted
