About Fernwood, British Columbia.
Fernwood is an artsy area and Victoria’s most unique neighbourhood, bordered by Haultain and Fort streets (north/south) and Shelbourne and Cook streets (east/west), with the iconic Fernwood Road running down its centre. One of the city’s most historic neighbourhoods, it is characterized by Victorian-style homes, co-op housing, hand-painted telephone poles filling the streets, small parks sprinkled throughout and a range of cultural attractions. British Columbia’s oldest public high school is also located here. Fernwood was first referred to as Spring Ridge and used to house Icelandic settlers and Victoria’s first water supply.
